5 Proven Relaxation Techniques for Stress Management

We all have our own way of reducing stress and anxiety in our own life, however, these are some popular ways of reducing stress that you can try using to improve your well-being.

Yoga

Practicing yoga is one great way of reducing stress. It is so special to give yourself an hour or an hour and a half window to escape your day, roll out your yoga mat and enjoy some time out. Yoga ties together the breathe, the mind and the body, helping you to remain present and focused.

Walking

Another great way to reduce stress and anxiety is walking. The Sunshine Coast has so many beautiful walking trails to discover, beachside or in the hinterland. Getting out into nature is so relaxing and recharges your energy levels. Take some deep breathes and enjoy the environment. When you are in nature you can shift your attention from voluntary (where your mind is focusing on one particular thing) to involuntary (where you can witness what's going on around you without having to zero in on one particular thing). Sunshine Coast beach tracks to try are the Currimundi Foreshore Reserve, Noosa National Park and the Sunshine Coast Coastal Pathway (Point Cartwright to Kawana; Warana to Currimundi; Currimundi to Caloundra; and Caloundra to Golden Beach). Sunshine Coast forest tracks to try are Buderim Forest Park, Kondalillia Falls (Montville) and Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve (Maleny). Truly spoilt for choice!

Meditation

Meditation is another excellent way to reduce stress. When we meditate our body acts in the exact opposite way to when we are stressed. Our heart rate decreases, we start to take nice deep breathes, we become calm and peaceful and are able to clear our mind.

Listen to Relaxing Music

Another easy way to reduce stress and anxiety is to listen to relaxing music. The next time you get home, choose a piece of music that is relaxing to you. Sit back and relax. This is particularly useful if you have children. Watch how the mood of your household changes by the type of music you play.

Massage

Finally, a really pleasurable way to reduce stress is massage. Massage decreases levels of stress hormones in the body, relaxes muscles fibres and stimulates the lymphatic system, which is your body's first line of defence against disease. Massage also calms the nervous system by inducing the brain to release chemicals called endorphins - natural painkillers and mood enhancers. No wonder you feel so good after a massage!

How to relieve stress using Laughter Therapy

How to relieve stress using laughter therapy. The Happiness Project became a household name in 1996 when the BBC broadcast an outstanding QED documentary called "How to be Happy".
For the show, three people who were clinically depressed took part in an unusual experiment. Prior to the commencement of the experiment the level of activity in the left pre-frontal lobe of the brain was measured, a reliable indicator of their happiness levels.
Over the next few weeks, the participants had to do three things:
1. Take physical exercise. As discussed in Strategy 5, exercise is a great stress reliever and helps release endorphins.
2. Laugh for 20 minutes a day. Laughter produces endorphins which make you feel good. Just smiling releases serotonin into your bloodstream.
3. Force themselves to have positive thoughts. Each participant had to place coloured stickers around in their home at work. Each time they saw a sticker, they had to think of something that made them feel good.
Because these new behaviours were repeated on a daily basis, they soon became habits. At the end of the study the participants had their brain activity re-assessed and all three had changed from being clinically depressed to being extreme optimists.

Stress is part of a person’s daily life. A person who is not enjoying his/her job, someone who is experiencing a great problem at home or someone who is frustrated about something usually experiences this.

Everyone can be a subject to stress and anxiety because this world holds many things that cause negativity. If you see someone who acts like he is not affected by any problem that he encounters, it is because he knows how to handle every problem that come his way.In this article, you will be given different ways to deal with stress and anxiety.

These two negative feelings should be treated immediately because it can cause more problems. It can hinder you from becoming productive with your work and from communicating with the people around you.

Be open to changes
Everything starts with accepting the fact that everything changes. You should be flexible enough to accept that there is no constant event in life. If you are experiencing so much pressure and hardship today, you should not stop believing that better days are yet to come. And on the other side, if you are experiencing a happy life today, be thankful and be open to any changes that might come in the next days.

The best way to be open with changes is to find peace inside you. If you are happy and contented, you have a strong foundation that can stand against any challenges.

Learn how to play
Many people experience so much pressure and stress because they do not understand the importance of spending quality time with their loved ones during their free time. You should also know when to relax and enjoy life. After five days of pure stress and tension inside the office, give yourself a break. Go for an out of town trip with your special someone or eat dinner with your whole family. These little moments are priceless. You can never buy happiness, so you have to make sure that you spend sometime smiling and forgetting all the pressure of working.

Communicate with your Creator
Prayer is the best stress reliever. If you know how to ask for strength from the source of your life, you will surely find yourself learning how to be contented and happy.
They often say that a person who knows how to kneel before his Creator cannot be moved by any negative circumstances.

Open up
Do not let the problem eat you up, spill it. If you have a trusted friend, tell him/her the different things that bother you and experience the feeling of being released from a negative thing that is imprisoning you. You can also cry if it can help you get that burden out of your system.Stress and anxiety are products of negative situations. As a human being, you are created with a heart that can endure every hardship. But when things are getting tough and you can no longer see yourself catching up, try doing one of the listed ideas above.
